Empowering Women. Transforming Communities. Advancing Equality.
Institute of Women Social Workers (IWSW) is a youth-led feminist organization committed to creating systemic change through education, advocacy, and grassroots action. Certified as a Private Voluntary Organization in Zimbabwe, we focus on gender equality, mental health, GBV prevention, and community empowerment. Our approach is rooted in African feminist values, ensuring that every intervention is inclusive, sustainable, and impact-driven.
At IWSW, we provide mental health and psychosocial support, career guidance for adolescents and young women, and holistic assistance to survivors of gender-based violence. Through community-driven programs and research-based advocacy, we’re building a Zimbabwe and Africa where women and girls can thrive with dignity, safety, and opportunity. If we cannot assist directly, we ensure you are referred to someone who can.
We deliver impactful services and programs across key areas to meet the evolving needs of women, girls, and communities:
Tele-counseling, trauma care, and community mental health services.
Mentorship and education for young women.
Safe spaces, referrals, and survivor-centered care.
Data-driven research shaping gender and mental health policy.
Training for health workers, youth leaders, and GBV advocates.
Promoting awareness and access to sexual and reproductive health rights.
Our current and past projects reflect our commitment to real change:
Creating dialogue-based safe spaces to tackle GBV and mental health stigma.
Combating period poverty in vulnerable communities.
Financial literacy and start-up training for survivors.
Media campaigns and peer-led training for inclusive communities.
Our work is trusted across Zimbabwe and the continent. Here’s what makes IWSW a leading voice for women and girls:
